Opinion: In my personal opinion, Osaka is easy, to get your way around to any places. Definitely, Shinkansens' are the way to go. Personal preference, try and get these passes:

1. To make your way to other towns - Kansai Thru Pass (2/3 days @ 4000/5200 yen respectively)
http://www.surutto.com/tickets/kansai_thru_english.html
Note: KTP can be used on any day during your trip, be it continuous or alternate days. Most of the trains are covered. (Except JR of course)

 2. To play around Osaka and enter her beautiful attractions for free / or at a discounted price - Osaka Amazing Pass (1/2 days @ 2500/3300 yen respectively)
https://www.osp.osaka-info.jp/en/
Note: OAP can only be used on a continuous 2 days basis. And not all the trains are usable. Plan well! (Except JR of course)

Disclaimer:
Above itinerary was not planned, thus, don't blame the writer. I walked alone throughout my 7 days. Feel free to comment places I've missed cos definitely, this isn't my last time visiting Osaka.
